Slido vs Mentimeter, and a Free Third Option

Slido and Mentimeter both cover polls, quizzes and audience Q&A, and they differ mainly in how their plans are capped and priced. Mentimeter's Free plan listed 50 participants per month on October 17, 2026, Slido's Basic listed 100 on October 5, 2026, and ShuffleTurn is a free third option with no signup but no slide decks.

Mentimeter vs Slido in plain terms

Anyone weighing these two is usually picking a tool for a meeting, a class or a conference session, and the free plans decide a lot. Mentimeter's Free plan lists 23 question types and a Q&A, but it caps participants at 50 per month and leaves out moderation, export, custom branding and SSO. Slido's free Basic plan listed a higher cap of 100 participants and limited moderation when we last checked.

Both vendors move the useful parts behind paid plans, so the question becomes which paid plan fits. Mentimeter prices per presenter and bills yearly, with Basic at $11.99 a month adding unlimited participants, slide import and exports. Slido prices per member and bills annually, and its tiers are organized around audience size: 200 on Engage, 1,000 on Professional. Those are different units, so a straight dollar comparison can mislead. Read the caps next to the price.

Slido is now part of Webex, per its own footer, and lists integrations with PowerPoint, Webex, Google Slides, Teams and Zoom. Mentimeter lists imports from PowerPoint, Keynote and Google Slides on Basic, and embeds on Pro. If your team already lives inside one of those ecosystems, that will probably settle it.

Where ShuffleTurn is a better fit

  • You want moderated Q&A, export and polls at no cost, with no per-presenter or per-member pricing
  • You do not want hosts or participants to create accounts
  • Your session is questions and answers, not slides
  • A small or mid-size audience, where an untested ceiling is an acceptable risk

Where Slido and Mentimeter are stronger

  • Both import or integrate with slide tools, which ShuffleTurn does not
  • Mentimeter lists custom colors, themes and a logo on Pro; ShuffleTurn has no branding options
  • Both list enterprise controls such as SSO, and Mentimeter adds SCIM and LMS integration
  • Both list AI features and deeper feature sets than ShuffleTurn
  • Slido publishes tiered participant limits and Mentimeter's paid plans list unlimited participants; ShuffleTurn has not been proven at large events

How to choose among the three

Choose Mentimeter if you build presentations and want to import an existing deck, or if you need branded screens, since those sit on Basic and Pro. Choose Slido if your organization already uses Webex, Teams or PowerPoint and wants the integration, or if audience size drives the decision and you want tiers defined by it. In both cases, read the vendor's current plan page first, because caps and prices move.

Choose ShuffleTurn if the job is collecting questions, running a poll or a scored quiz, and nobody wants to pay or sign up. Hosts get approve, reject, pin and mark answered controls, a big-screen view, and CSV export for free. Quizzes have points and a leaderboard but no per-question timer and no speed bonus. Pre-approval exists, but it is off by default, so switch it on when you create the session.

One caution applies to the free route. ShuffleTurn runs realtime on a single worker and has not been load-tested for large events, and it never claims a tested audience size. If a failed session would be costly, spend the money on a vendor that supports a documented limit. If you are running a team meeting or a class, the free option is a reasonable place to start.

Which one has better Q&A moderation, Slido or Mentimeter?
Mentimeter's Pro plan listed pre-approving questions on October 17, 2026, while its Free and Basic plans listed no moderation. Slido's Basic listed limited moderation, and pre-approval from the Engage tier, when we checked on October 5, 2026. Is there a free alternative to both Slido and Mentimeter?
ShuffleTurn is free, with live Q&A, polls, quizzes, word clouds, rating and ranking, and no signup for hosts or participants. It has no slide decks, templates, custom branding, translations, SSO or integrations with PowerPoint, Teams or Zoom, so it suits sessions where questions and answers are the whole point.
Does Mentimeter's free plan limit the audience?
Yes. Mentimeter's pricing page listed a cap of 50 participants per month on the Free plan on October 17, 2026. The Basic plan at $11.99 per presenter per month billed yearly listed unlimited participants. ShuffleTurn sets no participant cap in the app, but it has not been load-tested for large events.

Which should I choose for a large conference?
For a large or high-stakes event, choose a vendor that publishes and supports its limits. As listed on October 5, 2026, Slido's Professional tier covered up to 1,000 participants and Mentimeter's Basic listed unlimited participants on October 17, 2026. ShuffleTurn has not been load-tested at scale, so we would not recommend it there yet.
