Who the free Mentimeter plan is enough for

The free plan is a good fit for someone who presents occasionally to a small room. A teacher with a class of 25, a trainer running a workshop for a dozen people, or a team lead who wants a quick icebreaker poll can all stay under 50 participants for the month. With 23 question types and Menti AI on the free tier, you also get a lot of variety for no money.

The catch is that the cap is monthly: Mentimeter lists 50 participants per month on Free. Fifty is one mid-sized session or a handful of small ones. If you present once or twice and stay under it, free works well. If you run regular sessions, check how Mentimeter counts participants against that limit before you rely on it.

When to look elsewhere

Look at paid plans or other tools when you cross 50 participants, need your results out of the product, or want to moderate a public Q&A. Per the plans page, export starts at Basic, and pre-approving questions is a Pro feature at $24.99 per presenter per month, billed yearly. Branding and themes are also Pro. For universities and larger organizations, Mentimeter lists SSO, SCIM and LMS integrations with Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle and D2L Brightspace on Enterprise, and ShuffleTurn offers none of that.

Mentimeter is also stronger if your talk lives in slides. Basic lists import from PowerPoint, Keynote and Google Slides, and Pro lists embeds from PowerPoint Web, Google Slides and Miro. If that is how you present, a slide-centered tool is the better match.

A free option with no signup: ShuffleTurn

ShuffleTurn is free, and hosts and participants do not need to sign up. Polls cover multiple choice, quizzes with points and a leaderboard, 1 to 5 ratings, open text, word clouds and ranking, and the host chooses when to reveal results. Live Q&A has upvoting, anonymous questions, pinning, a big-screen view and moderation (pre-approval is available but off by default). Results export to CSV at no cost.

It does not have slide decks, importing slides, custom branding, themes, translations, SSO, or PowerPoint and Google Slides integrations. There is also no per-question quiz timer. It has not been load-tested for very large events, so we cannot vouch for it at that scale. A paid plan is planned but not available as of October 17, 2026.

As checked on October 17, 2026: Basic was $11.99 per presenter per month billed yearly, excluding tax, and Pro was $24.99 per presenter per month billed yearly. Enterprise has custom pricing. All paid prices are per presenter, so the cost grows with the number of people who build and run presentations.

Not on Free. As checked on October 17, 2026, the Free plan lists Q&A for crowdsourcing questions but no moderation, and Basic does not list moderation either. Pro lists "Moderate Q&A: Pre-approve questions" at $24.99 per presenter per month billed yearly. Check Mentimeter's plans page for the current setup.
Can I export results from free Mentimeter?
No. As checked on October 17, 2026, the Free plan lists no export. Basic adds image, PDF and Excel export at $11.99 per presenter per month billed yearly. If you need your results in a spreadsheet and a paid plan is off the table, ShuffleTurn exports poll results and Q&A to CSV for free.
Is there a free Mentimeter alternative with no signup?
ShuffleTurn is free, and hosts and participants do not need to sign up. It has live Q&A with moderation, polls, quizzes, ratings, word clouds and ranking. It has no slide decks, branding, translations or PowerPoint and Google Slides integrations. A paid plan is planned but not available as of October 17, 2026.
Do Mentimeter participants need an account?
Mentimeter's plans page does not say, so we will not guess. Check Mentimeter's site or their help pages before an event if that matters to you. In ShuffleTurn, participants do not need an account by default, though a host can choose to require login or names. That setting applies as of October 17, 2026.
